Betty Jane Wilson 1922 ~ 2017
Betty Jane Wilson, age 95, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away November 28, 2017.
Betty was born in Portland, Oregon, on March 20, 1922, to George and Wilma Wilson. She attended Franklin High School, graduating in 1940. During her 20's she enjoyed traveling with girlfriends around Oregon, as well as traveling to Washington DC on Greyhound and spending time working in Washington DC and Detroit. She visited Oregon Caves, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Victoria BC, etc.
Betty worked at Schnitzer Steel where she met Earl Hugill and at the age of 28, they were married in Portland, Oregon, and later moved to Southern Oregon, where they raised five children.
In 1973, Earl passed away. Several years later she moved to Port Townsend, WA, and in 1981, met and married Vern (Speed) Seaman. They enjoyed several years in Port Townsend before moving back to Oregon, first Lebanon, OR, and then to Roseburg to be nearer her children. Speed passed away in 2004, and then Betty moved to the Mistletoe Ranch near her daughter, Betty Bean.
Betty enjoyed being involved in a church all through her life, most recently Hucrest Community Church in Roseburg. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her two husbands, and also her grandson, Jesse Hugill. She is survived by her five children, Bruce (Sharon) Hugill of Reno, Nevada, John (Michelina) Hugill of Coos Bay, Oregon, Barbara (Brian) Carlson of Portland, Oregon, Caroline (Ron) Gillette of Eugene, Oregon, Betty (Dan) Bean of Roseburg, Oregon; also by eight beloved stepchildren; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
A viewing will be held at Pearson’s Funeral Home in Roseburg on December 2, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Pearson’s Funeral Home on December 2, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., with a gathering following at 325 Mistletoe Hill Lane, and a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at Eden Cemetery.
